Asters are small purple flowers that bloom in autumn. In flower language, they mean "I will never forget you," "remembrance," and "thinking of someone far away." They first appear in the Konjaku Monogatari as "forget-me-not grass," and the origin of the name comes from the story of a protagonist who planted asters on his late father's grave and visited it every day so he would never forget it.
